I wanted to rephrase my previous question so that no one thinks that Im trying to use yahoo answers to advertise. I just want to know if people like the idea or not. And please tell me if you have had a custom gown made or not and if you were happy or not. Thanks!

A custom made wedding gown, sooo much better than a store bought one!
Think of it, you could have it made so that it's an original. Ok, now I want to get one hand made .
The first time I got married, the MOH and one of the bridesmaids dresses were bought at a bridal shop and the other bridesmaids dress was handmade and it looked exactly like the store bought ones, less expensive but just as beautiful.

The bridal gown is one of the centerpieces of any wedding, but what happens if you cannot find the perfect one? Perhaps you are hoping for a unique gown, or one that fits in with your wedding theme, or maybe you are just not a perfect size 6. There are are many good reasons why a bride might decide that she wants to have a dress made especially for her; here is what you need to know to design the wedding gown of your dreams.

The first thing to keep in mind is that when I say that you can design your own wedding gown, I am not suggesting that you attempt to make it yourself! Unless you are a professional seamstress, the result of a homemade gown is rarely going to be perfect enough for a bride to wear on one of the most special days of her life. A seamstress who specializes in custom bridal gowns should be the only person you trust with such an important project. Be wary of anyone who tells you that they can reproduce a designer gown for a fraction of the price; this is not a person who is going to deliver a high quality wedding dress. David's Bridal was a bust. Not enough selection. Her colors are sapphire, silver, and ivory (or white). She wants a mermaid style wedding dress that's elegant, and not plain. We also need bridesmaid gowns...most of her braidsmaids are voluptous...from sizes 12-18. She's about a 0 or 2. I've been looking under prom dresses because there is a lot more style. We want long dresses...and I can't seem to find many sapphire dresses. Also, I'm the maid of honor, so we are thinknig about putting me in silver, or a combination of silver and sapphire. Anywayz, I went to david's bridal...we are going to go to bridal town, and i looked at mary's bridal. Question about preserving a wedding gown?

My wedding gown is in a bag in the back seat of my car it is in the bridal bag it came in. My questions are I live out west I have been married over 14 years and never had the extra money to get my dress preserved like they do at the dry cleaners. How much does it cost to get a wedding gown cleaned and preserved and after 14 years do you think it is worth doing this? I thought after some bills are paid I thought it would be a nice thing to do. I have no little girls to pass the dress on to but my grandma willed me the money to get the dress so I thought preserving it would be a nice thing to do. what is your take on this?

An "out west" local would indicate a hot car in the summer. Has the gown been in your backseat for 14 years? If it has or not, you should take it out and inspect it. Make sure the fabric is ok. If it seems not dried out, or damaged in any way than take it to a dry cleaners that does certified gown preservation. I live "out west" and had mine cleaned, holes sewn, and boxed with my veil. I have no little girls either. I just wanted to keep it nice. Plus the box has a window so I can look at it. The cost of the preservation and cleaning was $100.
