Is there a home remedy for cleaning a yellowed wedding dress made of tafeta and chiffon overlay?

My dress is tafeta with lace and chiffon overlay. I had had it professionally cleaned 30 some years ago and wanted to use it as decoration in my house before my daughter's wedding this June. When I opened the box, the dress was yellowed as was part of the hat. Can I do something to remove the yellow without taking it to the dry cleaner?

Some people may think that a large plastic bag or any old storage box will do when it comes to properly storing a wedding dress, but the fact is that you need to use an acid free pH neutral storage box for your wedding dress to keep it it in the most optimal condition. Why?
