Has anyone ever used a discount dress maker to custom make your wedding dress inspired by a couture gown?

My wedding is in August and I can't afford the dress I love (it's almost $3000!!! So I was wondering if someone could recommend a good discount dress maker who can do it for less. The dress I'm talking about is Jim Hjelm #8663 (it's lace). I did some looking and saw Julius Bridal, the Couture Studio, Dutchess Bridal and Diva by Desgin. They all promise great things but I can only find reviews on JB. Any suggestions?
